Information
Small cause - big effect: a simple apple is enough to plunge the whole of humanity - albeit a manageable one at the time - into disaster until doomsday.
into disaster until doomsday. It was the writer Peter Hacks who, with his eye for the absurdities of existence trained on everyday life in the GDR, uncovered the humor in the biblical story of the fall of mankind in his comedy Adam and Eve in a linguistically virtuoso form. At the same time, he created a fiery plea for human freedom.
Mike Svoboda, composer and trombonist, American in Switzerland, and also a musical border crosser between new music, jazz and subtle humor, has so far concentrated as an opera composer on works for young and very young audiences. Having been trained in the combination of sophistication and lightness, Svoboda is virtually predestined to set Hacks' paradisiacal comedy to music. The Linz Landestheater is presenting the world premiere of Adam and Eve this season at the renowned Schwetzingen Festival, before the production can also be experienced in the BlackBox in the coming season.
