Le Sacre du Printemps | Metamorphoses

The uproar the world premiere of Igor Stravinsky’s Le Sacre du printemps created in May 1913 in Paris is legendary and the fascination of this, in the meantime canonic work of the emerging avant-garde, is unwavering. The main narrative centers on a young girl chosen to celebrate the rites of the coming of spring; a season that will hopefully bring prosperity to the community. She begins with her ceremonial dance and the musical rhythms rapidly increase, and the almost dissonant melodies drive her into a frenzy as she dances herself to exhaustion and death in the barbaric ritual. 

Tanzdirektorin und Choreografin Mei Hong Lin wächst seit vielen Jahren einer eigenen Interpretation dieses Meisterwerkes entgegen. In der Spielzeit 2019/2020 stellt sie sich gemeinsam mit Markus Poschner dieser Herausforderung. Richard Strauss’ Metamorphosen ergänzen Strawinskys Ballett und setzen den mit der Spielzeit 2016/2017 begonnenen Zyklus der Werke des Komponisten fort.
