In the last year of his life, Mozart composed this opera seria (serious style) based on the life of the Roman Emperor Titus. It’s a compelling story of power, love and the courage for compassion. However, Mozart left the scoring of the recitative to a pupil of his. This oddity inspired the renowned contemporary composer, Manfred Trojahn, to compose a new score for the recitative. In this innovative version, the opera evolves into an enthralling dialogue between classical and modern music.
