Information
The daughter of the sea king falls in love with a prince and enters the world of humans to look for him although she is in great pain with every step she takes… In 1902, regarding himself as a mermaid unconditionally in love, Austrian composer Alexander von Zemlinsky found incitement and inspiration in Hans Christian Andersen for his symphonic fantasy, Die Seejungfrau [The Little Mermaid], which musically expresses the psychological process of losing a beloved person, of being rejected and of suffering pain.
