Information
Musically enthralling, virtually “overrunning” the audience with the force of his compositions, the operas of Giacomo Meyerbeer's (1791-1864) are composite theater presentations. He was not only an electrifying composer but a talented dramaturge who intertwines all the components of music theater such as choreography, composition, instrumentation, text, and staging into a total concept. At the Landestheater Linz, the audience can savor first hand Le Prophète, the spectacular opera that first premiered in Paris in 1849 to sensational reviews and re-experience the rise and fall of the counter-reformation Anabaptist movement in the 16th Century.
