Opening premiere: "PIAF" - Musical by Pam Gems

Édith Piaf was a force of nature. Her numerous lovers, all of whom sooner or later fell from grace and were replaced, could sing a song about it. Édith was free and dangerous, had seen and done everything, and that could be seen and heard. Pam Gems wrote the biographical musical Piaf for the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1978, which quickly conquered the stages of the world. In bursting scenes, she suddenly illuminates stations from Édith Piaf's fascinating life. The play is peppered with Piaf's great chansons such as "L'accordéoniste", "Padam", "La vie en rose", "Mon dieu", "Milord" and "Non, je ne regrette rien". With audience favourite Daniela Dett as Édith Piaf.
Premiere | Fri, 18 September 2020 | Großer Saal Musiktheater

Director Hermann Schneider, conductor Markus Poschner

Two works, two composers, two women's fates, one evening and the big question: How far do we go for those we love? Ludwig van Beethoven's only opera Fidelio and Mark-Anthony Turnage's dramatic scene Twice through the heart are devoted to this question in a way that is both touching and differentiated. Next to the heroically loving Leonore stands the gripping fate of a nameless lover. In dialogue with Turnage's opera rarity, Beethoven shines in a new, exciting light, just in time for his 250th birthday. Get involved in an extraordinary evening!
Premiere | Sat, 19 September 2020 | Großer Saal Musiktheater
