Information
Shrek the ogre is told by his parents that the rest of the world rejects ogres. So he settles down as a single man in a pretty, smelly swamp until his peace and quiet is disturbed by dozens of fairy-tale creatures who have been driven out of the city of Duloc by Lord Farquaad. On the journey to Duloc, he is joined by an unprejudiced but talkative donkey - the beginning of an unlikely friendship. In return for the return of his subjects, Farquaad demands that Shrek frees Princess Fiona from a dragon's cave, as he wants to marry her. Shrek and Donkey actually accomplish this task and in the meantime both find their dream woman. And who comes away empty-handed? Villain Farquaad, of course!
Ten years after the legendary animated film, the musical adaptation was released on Broadway, immediately captured the hearts of audiences young and old with its outrageous wit and intelligent message and has since become a hit with audiences worldwide.
