Das Dreimäderlhaus
A Singspiel in three acts by Angelika Messner
Freely adapted from Heinrich Berté with music by Franz Schubert | arranged by Ola Rudner
Original libretto by Alfred Maria Willner and Heinz Reichert after the novel Schwammerl by Rudolf Hans BartschProduction of the Upper Austrian Opera Studio
Information
Generations of operetta lovers* had their hearts opened at Heinrich Berté's touching and cheerful Dreimäderlhaus, when they were allowed to suffer with the poor composer Franz Schubert, when he was forced to renounce his love for the charming Hannerl. Of course, the Biedermeier idyll shown here has little to do with Schubert's actual life and love reality. And so Ola Rudner (music) and Angelika Messner (lyrics) have, with a great deal of wit and empathy, given this old operetta a fresh cell cure and reconciled it with the current state of Schubert's biography.
