Information
Countess Zedlau seems to have made a big mistake in her choice of husband: while she is a true Viennese noblewoman and enjoys life to the full, she thinks her husband Count Balduin is a paragon of boredom (but he is not Viennese either). However, she only realizes that boredom is actually a deception and that Count Zedlau knows how to amuse himself with amorous adventures in Vienna of all places when one lover after another reveals herself. When the most naïve prime minister of all time intervenes, there is no stopping the chaos.
Wiener Blut is one of the earliest pasticcio operettas and combines the nostalgic and the rarely heard from the pen of Johann Strauss to create a breathless comedy of mistaken identities. With this last operetta by the Waltz King, director Thomas Enzinger once again demonstrates his skills in this genre.
